What is a Genealogical Society? To best explain, let's talk about what is Genealogy? Genealogy is the action of researching your ancestors through vital records and stories. A Genealogical Society promotes and encourages one to achieve that goal through education and support. The Rockdale-Newton County Genealogical Society serves the residents of both Rockdale and Newton County who have ancestors who live in either county. It also serves surrounding county residents who have an interest in researching their ancestry. The society meets every other month on the 2nd Sunday (unless holiday then 3rd Sunday) at 3 pm and enjoys summers off to chase their ancestors around the US and world. We provide in-person and zoom meetings at the Church of Latter-Day Saints, 1275 Flat Shoals Road, Conyers. The Society provides education in all aspects of researching your ancestry through qualified speakers and conferences. The society started as Rockdale County Genealogical Society in 1993. In 2018 the society included Newton County in their name to encourage Newton County residents to also search for their ancestors as the society was growing with Newton County researchers. This celebration will honor the 30 years that we have served Rockdale and Newton County. We will also be honoring members past and present who have been there to help us grow. Library HoursHours:
